Environment Models

Virtual Reality Pharmacy Cleanroom

(Ongoing Project)

The goal of this project is to create an Immersive Virtual Reality Cleanroom training environment for Pharmacy Technician Students, as a supplement for their inclass studies. The project was started by Dr. Steve Abel (Assistant Dean for Clinical Programs, School of Pharmacy, Purdue University) & Steven Dunlop (Managing Director, The Envision Center for Data Perceptualization, Purdue University). The environment is viewed by using the immersive Flex CAVE VR simulator located at the Envision Center, where the project is being hosted.

I was recruited onto this project approximately 16 months ago as a 3D modeler. During that time, myself and two other students have built a static model of our Pharmacy Cleanroom. It can be explored in the Flex CAVE, utilizing stereoscopic video, ambient sound, intersense 3D tracking and 3D navigation.

Currently we are working to add object and environment interaction. Over the course of the project I have enhanced my 3D modeling ability, increased my knowledge of immersive environments, and branched out to learn more programing to utilize OSG and Python for incorporating interactions.

Envision Center Model (work in progress)
This piece originated after noticing in that the Envision Center's Virtual Campus model built for the FLEX Cave, lacked the very facility that had created it. I offered to build a model to be incorportated into the campus model.

Character Models

Transformer(work in progress)
This model is just an attempt by myself to see what could manage as far as mechanical complexity. Thus far, I just have a wheel/hand/weapon, and a transition animation between the three.
Android(work in progress)
This model is just an example of a non-organic character. As I said, a work in progress...

Prop Models

NanoCopier - NanoFactor
This model was developed in a CGT 442 - Animation for Production, to be included in the NanoFactor game trailer. NanoFactor is an educational game in development by Backbone Entertainment geared towards educating children about Nano Technology, and what it may allow us to do in the future.
NanoCopier
Beckman Coulter Models
These models were built and incorporated into the VR Pharmacy Cleanroom for the purpose of presenting it to Beckman Coulter's VPs in an effort to gererate new project ideas for the Envision Center.

Fire Hydrant - City Block Environment
This model is a prop that will show up in a 3D environment that I am making of an average city block.
